Introduction



THIS IS AN INTERNAL OPPORTUNITY FOR CURRENT CITY OF SCOTTSDALE POLICE EMPLOYEES ONLY.

The Police Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) Drone First Responder (DFR) Pilot operates unmanned aerial systems in support of patrol and investigative units, monitors videos, and performs other technology-based investigative work in real time to support the Emergency Communications Center’s dispatched calls for service and the response to these calls by public safety units. Work includes monitoring, operating, and interpreting multiple interactive software systems, examining and uploading relevant videos, and completing supplemental reports.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
  • Three years of experience as a sworn law enforcement officer or professional staff.
Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements
  • Must possess, at time of application, and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 36 months prior to the start date.  The Arizona Motor Vehicle Department requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona.  Note: Graduated Driver’s Licenses are considered restricted.
  • Must obtain, within six months of hire, and maintain throughout tenure, a Level B Terminal Operator Certification (TOC) through Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS).
  • Must be eligible for and obtain, within six months, and maintain throughout tenure, a Remote Pilot certificate with a Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) rating per Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulation 14 CFR Part 107.
  • Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/service assignment.

PLEASE NOTE: Years of experience are based on a work schedule of 2,080 hours per year for full-time positions and 1,040 hours per year for part-time positions, and while work experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis. Depending upon the job classification, education may not be substituted for work experience.
